FAQs

The busiest time is from the end of June until the end of July on the weekends. Weekdays during that time are not as busy. We always recommend making a reservation in advance.
Usually campsites accommodate 10-12 people per site. Call 1-800-392-3700 and ask a reservationist for information on specific sites.
Usually 1 camper trailer & one tent can fit on one W&E/Full site. If there is not a camper trailer there is a 3 tents maximum on a W&E/Full site. Electric sites are large enough for 8-12 people or about 3 tents per site.
On float trips: Yes, pets are allowed on the floats they just need to be kept on a leash. On the premises: Yes. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times while on the resort property and never left unattended. Please do not attach leashes to the trees. In Lodging: We do not recommend, but if you wish to bring them, there is a $25.00 non-refundable per pet cleaning fee. You are responsible for letting us know you have a pet in our lodging and any damages that occur. Please don't leave pets inside units for any length of time.
Yes, we have a dump station located in the 200's by Shower house II.
Electric sites have electric hookup only. W&E sites have water & electric hookup. The Full Hookup sites have water, electric, and a sewer hookup. 30 & 50 Amp electric service available.
Some suggested items are: a tent, tent stakes, rope, sleeping bag, air mattress, pillow, camp stove, lantern, lawn chairs, insect repellent, toiletries, cookware, cooler, food and drinks. (If you forget something we have a great variety of supplies at our Bass' Headquarters.)

Yes we have a campground store. We carry camping & floating supplies, t-shirts, souvenirs, grocery items, wood, ice, soft drinks, alcohol & cigarettes.
They are not allowed in the campground.
Horses are allowed before Memorial Day weekend and after Labor Day weekend. The cost is the same as camping fees.
Yes, we recommend a reservation on weekends, especially Memorial weekend to Labor Day weekend. Weekdays don't require a reservation, but we always recommend calling to let us know you are coming in to camp.
Yes all lodging, the Shady Bend Area, and the River Bend Area are all located in the family area. The quiet hours for family area start at 11pm and last until 6am. The Island Area (sites 1-199D & site 203) are in the loud area and the quiet hours begin at 2:30am and last until 6am.
The RV sites are located throughout the campground. Sites 581,583,585,587,589, 591,593, & 595 are Electric only. Sites 157-196, 242-251, 293-302, & 500-525 are W&E sites. Sites 255-274, 511-520, 700-725, & 730-751 are Full Hook-up sites.
Dumpsters are located at several locations throughout the campground. Please put trash bags in dumpsters.
Small & Large Mouth Bass, Goggle Eye, Blue Gill, Suckers, and Sunfish. You may fish along the bank anywhere in our campground. There is a nice hole above the 200's camping area.
We have a 10 day cancellation policy, as long as you cancel at least 10 days prior to your arrival you will get your deposit back less a $20 service charge. Any cancellations or changes made less than 10 days of your arrival date result in the full amount forfeited.
Memorial Day thru Labor Day weekend we are open until 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights. In the off-season you need to let the office know your arrival time.

The daily charge is $2.50 p/person. A family pass is $12 which includes immediate family (2 adults and their children) and is good for 3 days. Lodging customers receive a complimentary pool pass. No lifeguard is on duty..
100% per person is required within 10 days of making the reservation. If group organizer needs extra time to collect deposits we can allow extra time.
We require a $35 deposit per site or 100% prepayment of camping charges in advance. In the Island Area we hold the $35 site deposit until checkout. The deposit will be refunded upon check-out if the campsite is clean throughout your stay and is clean at check-out. Please be sure to have your site checked prior to leaving to get your deposit refunded. Electric,W&E,and Full Hookup charges need to be paid in full before arrival.
No. Camping in the loud area is $15.46 p/adult/night on Friday & Saturday nights. Sunday thru Thursday it is $12.26 p/adult/night. Camping in the family area is $12.26 p/adult/night Friday & Saturday nights. Sunday thru Thursday it is $10.66 p/adult/night. Children 8-12 are $5.33 p/child/night and children 7 and under are FREE for loud or family area camping!
Yes. You pay the p/person camping fees and one charge for the hookup of $14.92 p/site/night
Campsites 2-199D & Campsite 203 are considered to be in the loud area and require a site security deposit of $35 per site.
Campsites 201-751 are considered to be in the quiet/family area. (Excluding Campsite 203)
We have 4 shower houses throughout our resort. The showers are coin operated; the cost is 50¢ for approximately a 5 minute shower.

We do have handicapped accessible cabins. They are Log Cabin 19 (12 person maximum) and Cozy 7a & 8a (4 person maximum), Buck Lodge, Doe Lodge, Coyote Creek & Wolf Den (20 person maximum) and Meadow View Lodge I (16 person maximum)
A 50% deposit is required within 10 days of making reservation. Balance on cabin is due 10 days prior to arrival with a list of people in each cabin.
No, our cabins are not right on the water, but some of them do overlook the Courtois River. Most are within walking distance of the river.
Purple paint stands for No Trespassing to signify private property. Violators will be prosecuted. Trespassing starts at $169 per incident.
There is a $25.00 service charge per hour per craft taking out after 7:00 p.m.
No coolers larger than 52 quarts are allowed. There are cooler sizers for float trips at the Main Store to check the size of your cooler.
There is a $150 minimum fine for any damage to watercraft or equipment. If you abandon your watercraft or equipment you will be required to pay for it.
Your float price includes rental of the equipment, trash bags, and shuttle arrangements.

Our six mile float from Blunt - Bass! This float usually takes 3-4 hours in a canoe, a raft usually takes 4-6 hours.
No, we do not reserve canoes by aluminum or Old Town, it depends on availability. We recommend to float early in the day if you prefer Old Town canoes.
Glass bottles are not allowed on the rivers by law. No Styrofoam allowed on the rivers.

No, it is classified as class 1, which is as easy as it gets, except the upper parts in spring when the water is up! Call for water conditions.

Yes, we recommend a reservation in advance for Saturday's from Memorial Day thru Labor Day Weekend. We require full payment in advance to guarantee your float. Sunday's (except holiday weekends) and weekday's do not necessarily require a deposit, but we would like you to call a day in advance and let us know you are coming in.

Our floats can leave anytime between 8am and 2pm Monday thru Friday. Saturday floats leave anytime between 7am and 2pm.

Bass' River Resort is close to many area attractions.  We sell tickets to Onondaga Cave at our main store.  For more information on Steelville and activities in the area, you may visit www.exploresteelville.com.

 Horseback riding is $30.91 for a 1-hour trail ride, and the ride is guided. Kids have to be at least 8yrs old to ride. For children under 8 kiddie rides are available, which are $8.53 p/child & we lead them around the stable area for approximately 10 minutes. We do not allow our guests to bring their own horses.
No, we do not allow two people on a horse at the same time.
Yes, we do sell fishing licenses at the Bass' Headquarters.  For Missouri residents, an annual fishing license is $12.00.  For out of state guests, we sell a daily pass for $7.00 per day or an anuual fishing pass of $42.00.  Trout Tags need to be purchased separately.
In the past, cell service was virtually non-existent on and around our property.  However, with recent advances, the quantity and quality of cell reception is improving.There are several areas that you will get limited cell service around the resort.  Our staff will be happy to let you know where the best areas to get cell service are.
